Who I Work With
Have people told you that you’re “too sensitive” or that your emotions are “too much”?
When you were young, did people tell you that you were emotionally “mature for your age” or “an old soul”?
I hear you. As a neurodivergent and highly sensitive person, these same statements were said to me.
My ideal clients are people who have experienced developmental complex trauma (such as being raised by emotionally immature parents, religious trauma, emotional/physical/sexual abuse) which has led them to develop a rich inner world that is full of emotional depth.
They may have developed various coping mechanisms such as dissociation or people pleasing that helped them survive a difficult time, but may not serve them anymore.
I have a particular fondness for working with the LGBTQ+ community, people in helping professions ( such as healthcare workers, fellow therapists, clergy members), and working with neurodivergent people.
I facilitate change by utilizing EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) therapy to address traumatic memories, DBT skills and mindfulness to help cope with strong emotions and prepare for trauma work, and solution focused therapy to address day to day stressors.
I have a warm and validating style, and use a nondirective and person centered approach.
