Adult ADHD & Autism Assessments

Have you spent years feeling different, misunderstood, or like you have to work harder than others to navigate everyday life? Perhaps you've wondered whether ADHD or autism could explain your experiences, or you've learned to mask your struggles so well that others don't see how much effort it takes to get through the day.

You deserve an assessment that looks beyond stereotypes, recognizes your strengths, and honors your unique experiences.

I offer virtual adult ADHD and autism assessments for adults located in Minnesota, Utah, and Wisconsin.

Using the Cherry Adult ADHD Autism Diagnostic Interview (Cherry AADI), a culturally responsive, neurodivergent affirming, and strengths based assessment tool, I take a comprehensive approach to understanding your experiences, recognizing that ADHD and autism can present differently across individuals, cultures, genders, and life experiences.

Rather than focusing solely on challenges or deficits, this assessment explores your individual strengths, differences, support needs, and the ways you've learned to navigate the world.

Whether you're exploring a possible diagnosis for the first time or seeking answers after years of feeling misunderstood, the goal is to help you better understand yourself in a supportive, respectful, and affirming environment.

A Different Approach to Adult ADHD and Autism Diagnosis

Traditional diagnostic approaches don't always capture the full experience of being neurodivergent, particularly for adults who have spent years adapting to social expectations or masking their differences. My approach makes space for experiences that can otherwise be overlooked, including:

  • Masking and camouflaging: Exploring how you may consciously or unconsciously hide, compensate for, or adapt your natural behaviors to meet social expectations.

  • Sensory processing differences: Understanding how sensory experiences involving sound, light, touch, movement, and other environmental factors may affect your daily life.

  • Demand avoidance patterns: Exploring experiences of intense resistance, distress, or overwhelm in response to demands, expectations, or perceived loss of autonomy, including patterns sometimes described as pathological demand avoidance (PDA).

  • Cultural and individual differences: Recognizing how culture, identity, social expectations, and lived experiences can shape how neurodivergent traits are expressed, understood, or recognized.

  • Strengths and support needs: Identifying your unique abilities, interests, coping strategies, and areas where greater understanding or support may be helpful.

Who Can Benefit From an Adult ADHD or Autism Assessment?

ADHD and Autism assessments may be a good fit for adults who:

  • Suspect they may be autistic, have ADHD, or experience both.

  • Have felt different from others without knowing why.

  • Have spent years masking, people pleasing, or trying to fit in.

  • Experience sensory sensitivities, executive functioning challenges, or difficulty navigating everyday demands.

  • Have been overlooked, misunderstood, or previously misdiagnosed in mental health settings.

  • Want to understand longstanding patterns in their relationships, communication, attention, emotions, or daily functioning.

  • Are seeking a formal diagnosis to support self-understanding, accommodations, or access to appropriate resources.

You do not need to fit a particular stereotype of autism or ADHD to deserve a thoughtful, individualized assessment.

What Makes This Assessment Different?

My approach to adult ADHD and autism diagnosis is grounded in neurodiversity affirmation, cultural responsiveness, and respect for your lived experience.

Using the Cherry AADI as part of the assessment process, we explore your experiences with curiosity rather than judgment. Behaviors sometimes labeled as deficits may reflect differences in processing, communication, sensory needs, or responses to overwhelming environments.

The assessment considers your individual experiences and strengths while evaluating whether diagnostic criteria for ADHD and/or autism are met. When a diagnosis is established, the goal is to help you develop a more complete understanding of yourself, recognize your support needs, and identify practical ways to support your well-being.

This is not about changing who you are or making you fit a particular mold. It's about gaining insight into how you experience the world and what you need to thrive.
